Yoga Mountain’s 200 hour, 500 hour and Professional Yoga Therapy Certification programs are approved by Yoga Alliance and the International Association of Yoga Therapists. Yoga Mountain has been training yoga teachers for over seventeen years.
Learn The traditional practices that have been passed down over 3000 years through a curriculum which will successfully develop your skills as a teacher. Classes are designed to cover all facets of yoga teaching, such as: styles and lineage of yoga, creating a safe, clear and interesting class; techniques of asana, breath work, meditation and relaxation; anatomy, physiology and kinesiology, to name a few. Small classes ensure hands-on attention to the needs of the individual.
Teachers who are unmatched. Our faculty includes individuals who lead in the field and guide you every step of the way. These experts are well known in the community for their work not only as yoga teacher trainers but also as instructors, yoga authors and yoga therapists.
Our Class Schedule works with evening and weekend classes as a way to offer training hours to busy adults and students. The Certification program runs uninterrupted from September through April.
The Criteria is simple We require approximately a year of yoga practice prior to beginning the 200 hour Yoga Teacher Certification Program. The 500 hour Advanced and Yoga Therapy Teacher Training Programs require the successful completion of a 200 hour Yoga Alliance approved program. A dedicated commitment to your study during each program is mandatory to ensure you receive your certification. The programs are extensive and thorough. You must be prepared physically, mentally and emotionally to support the schedule through graduation.
Tuition The price for the 200 hour Certification is $3300. The Advanced 500 hour Certification including Yoga Therapy specialization or other specializations is also $3300. (Some schools refer to the 500 hour as the 300 hour program, as the total hours 200 + 300) A minimum deposit of $500.00 is required to secure your registration. The cost of text books is not included. Discounts are offered for early registration and combined certifications. Installment payment programs are also available.

200-Hour Yoga Teacher Certification
As a student at Yoga Mountain, you are part of a legacy going back seventeen years, 3000 years actually, because we are steeped in the ancient tradition. We focus not only on the physical aspect of yoga, including the asanas, but also on meditation, mindfulness, philosophy, breath work, the body’s energy centers, social activism and therapeutic healing.
The 200-hour program includes postures, breaths, and mindfulness/meditation techniques. Anatomy, teaching methodology, corrections and enhancements, the history of yoga, these are some of the many elements of the program. The student is required to attend 180 hours in YM certification classes with the teacher trainers, who are all certified 500-hour experienced teachers. We get to know you well, for our program is individualized and hands-on.
We meet once a week on Wednesday nights from 7:00 to 9:30 pm, plus once a month for weekend workshops which consist of Saturday and Sunday from 12:30-6:00 each day. Your Graduation day is an all day intensive from 7:00 am -7: 00 pm. All classes are mandatory attendance in full. Class Dates for 2011 / 2012 200 Hour Class Program:

(300)500-hour Advanced Yoga Teacher Certification
Congratulations on your completion of a registered 200-hour certification program. As you continue your studies in yoga, you delve more deeply into all its myriad elements, and focus perhaps on specializations that broaden your opportunities to teach. With Yoga Mountain at Sanctuary Yoga Studios, we offer a wide range of experiences and studies in different fields of yoga: seniors, children, yoga in the classroom, vinyasa, healing yoga, yoga therapy, yoga research and publication. The program includes:
-190 contact hours which run concurrent with the 200 hour program (please see 200 hour class dates) plus specific Sunday evenings (indicated by *) 6:00-9:00 pm.
- 165 elective hours
- 30 hours practicum
(To be registered with Yoga Alliance, you must also complete 100 hours teaching experience)
- 50 hours of home study and projects.
Like all the YM Certification Programs, the (300)500-hours is highly individualized and hands-on. The price is $3300.
Class Dates for the 2011/ 2012 500 hour class program runs concurrent with the 200 hour program with the addition of two Sundays monthly for the first three months and returning to one Sunday a month there after.
Professional Yoga Therapy Certification Program
The Professional Yoga Therapy Program is a therapy program (including case studies) embedded into the (300)500-hour YM Teacher Certification Program as a specialty. The curriculum is presented through lecture, discussion, observation, hands-on practice, diagnostic process and prescriptive practices. The skills that will be developed are intake, client-therapist relations, process plan creation, implementation, adaptation, documentation, evaluation of effectiveness of process, and follow-up. The Yoga Therapy program includes case studies, clinical internships and field work. Yoga therapy has become widely accepted as a viable form of alternative healthcare.
Yoga Mountain has been a member of the International Association of Yoga Therapists (IAYT) since our Director; Gail Walsh was approved by Oxford Health Plans and HIP as an alternative caregiver in 1992. Our article on yoga for children with learning and/or emotional disabilities was published in the Journal Supplement at the IAYT international convention in LA in 2007. Like all the YM Certification Programs, the (300)500-hours is highly individualized and hands-on. The price is $3300.

Walsh is an ERYT (Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher) with the National Yoga Alliance. Her Yoga Mountain Yoga Teacher Certification programs have been on-going since 1994, approved by the National Yoga Alliance, http://yogaalliance.org/, and she has trained over 324 students in her 200 and (300) 500-hour yoga teacher certification programs. Yoga Mountain Yoga Therapy Certification is the latest addition to her roster of training and certification programs. The program is approved by the IAYT (International Association of Yoga Therapists)http://www.iayt.org/ .
Gail Bentley Walsh has been teaching yoga in public, private and special education schools for eighteen years. She is an expert when it comes to k-12 education involving the science of yoga. Walsh is passionate about bringing these tools to every teacher, no matter what the teachers’ background or experience, since she knows firsthand that simply exploring these techniques together can begin to cause a cultural shift in faculty, staff and student body away from fear, depression, anxiety, poor health, hostility and violence. A former Peace Corps Volunteer, Walsh is the founder and co-director of Yoga Mountain Inc.,www.yogamountain.com. She started teaching yoga to public and private school teachers in 1998, offering training and workshops for K-12 educators including teachers, teaching assistants, health-care workers, social workers, psychologists, clinicians and school administrators. The YM program offers individual segments for pre-school yoga, children’s yoga, kid’s yoga, middle-school yoga and high-school yoga, as well as yoga for special needs learners with physical, emotional or learning disabilities. The syllabus includes breath and breathing techniques, deep stretches and exercises, mindfulness enhancing relaxation and meditation techniques, teaching methodology and the ‘science of yoga.’
Walsh designed her accredited graduate course for teaching yoga in the classroom with an emphasis on health, relaxation, self-confidence and self-regulation. Teaching Self-Regulation to Improve Academic Performance and Interpersonal Relations: Yoga in the Classroom© has been offered through The Rockland Teachers’ Center Institute (Expanding the art of teaching and learning) www.rockteach.org and Mount Saint Vincent’s College in the Bronx, NY since 2006. It will soon be offered in counties throughout New York State.

Ronda Lam DiChiaro Directs and Teaches the Yoga Mountain Certification programs along with Gail Walsh. She is the Director of Yoga Mountain in Bergen County, and offers classes in her private studio in Northern, NJ.
CYT, NYA and IYA member, she has studied yoga for 12 years and has taught for 10 years. She is experienced in a variety of yoga styles including Hatha, Iyengar, Bikram, Thai massage and Vinyasa. Emphasizing proper alignment, her spirited classes create Tapas (heat), through Vinyasa (linked postures) to develop strength, flexibility and concentration in a fun, compassionate and non-competitive environment.

Janet Vignola teaches the Yoga Mountain Certification programs along with Gail Walsh.
Janet Vignola is a registered yoga teacher with the National Yoga Alliance and 2008-2009 member of the IAYT. She completed her 500-hour certification in 2008 at Yoga Mountain in New City in addition to the Professional Yoga Mountain Yoga Therapy Certification. As a yoga practitioner for the past 20 years, Janet’s desire to teach evolved from the joy she received from her own practice and the aspiration to share that joy with others. Her classes focus on developing balance, strength and flexibility of mind and body through utilization of the breath, always with emphasis on presence of mind and self-awareness. As a Reiki practitioner, this energy enriches her yoga teaching.
